ABOUT THIS PROJECT

PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering is a hotel near central Singapore’s business district and Chinatown, designed by WOHA around a 'hotel in a garden' concept. Broad planted terraces, water features, and sky gardens insert substantial greenery into a dense development site. WOHA also documents passive strategies such as naturally ventilated circulation areas, shading, rainwater retention, and solar-powered irrigation. These systems should be described according to the architect’s evidence rather than extrapolated into independently measured operational savings. The project provides a tangible example of how hospitality buildings can incorporate layered green space and climatic design within compact tropical urban sites.

WHY IT MATTERS

PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering makes planted terraces and sky gardens a major part of a hotel’s form in dense central Singapore. Research documents shaded, naturally ventilated circulation and additional water and irrigation strategies, showing how tropical landscape can be integrated into hospitality architecture. The Atlas includes the project for this layered green design while keeping operational energy outcomes and unverified technology claims outside the explanation.
